Animal Refuge - Refuge De L'arche

Just a short distance from Laval Market this Refuge De L'arche has a wide variety of animals that have been rescued by Greenpeace, and similar agencies. These animals mainly come from test laboratories. Animals featured range from peacocks, crocodiles, chipmunks to wolves, tigers and bears. The main attraction is "Baboon Island", an island surround by a small lake with many baboons.

The children are set the challenge of completing a "letter quest", clues will lead them to each enclosure where they will have to translate the plaques and answer questions on the different species of animals.Another fun learning activity adding to their French experience.

Our Advice

This makes an ideal half day excursion.  This trip can easily be combined with a morning visit to Laval Market as the two locations are just ten minutes apart.

On the way back from the animal refuge we can stop at a small chocolate factory.  A chance to sample a few chocolates and see the amazing chocolate statues and a chocolate fountain. This short stop is always popular with pupils and teachers.
