Can I book a school trip to France for 2022?

November 19, 2021

Many teachers are asking: can I book a school trip to France for 2022 and beyond. The short answer is yes. But there's important things you need to take into account. Below are three important considerations for planning school trips abroad in a post-Brexit world.

  1. Financial protection. Even though there is no new normal from insurers that covers every aspect of Covid-19, there are some insurance products on the table that have evolved; reputable operators have altered terms and conditions to better manage the possibility of children or staff being unable to travel. Make sure you ask the provider about them, don't just read them or guess!
  2. Travel directly to your destination country. This means there's only one set of local regulations to understand and less chance of confusion for you, parents and children.
  3. Go with a specialist school-trip provider. The chances are they'll have already been operating under Covid-19 restrictions with appropriate risk assessments in place. Ask to see them!

Booking a school trip abroad at the moment is quite daunting because you need to navigate and understand changing regulations in both the United Kingdom and your destination country. However, booking a trip abroad should remain high on your agenda: having a trip ready that doesn't go ahead is surely better than finding out a trip was possible, but it's too late to plan. Obviously this leads directly into point 1), above.

The benefits of going on a school trip abroad haven't changed, but there's the added bonus that 2022 might have fewer visitors to your centre of choice. It means you get to provide a great experience at a time when they've been in short supply for several months.

If you have any questions, why not have a chat with chosen provider!
