Health & Safety
Security
Safety and security are our primary concerns. We take every possible step to ensure the safety and security of our visitors and having operated school trips to France successfully since 1996, we have an excellent record of which we are proud.
We are registered with:
- Prefecture de Laval (police, fire brigade and technical authorities);
- Departement de la Jeunesse et Sports (social welfare of young people);
- BAPA (British Activity Providers Association);
- AAIAC (Adventure Activities Industry Advisory Committee);
- Work closely with the local authorities;
- and hold the LOtC (Learning Outside the Classroom) Quality Badge
We are regularly inspected by the local authorities and the BAPA to ensure that we continue to meet the high standards set.
Our site is peaceful and secure and we want to ensure that your group is safe at all times during your stay with us. All accommodation blocks’ external doors are protected from outside entry by keypads, or otherwise can only be opened from the inside.
A safety talk and fire drill will be conducted shortly after your arrival.
Our Staff
We select our staff for their enthusiasm, experience and aptitude for working with children.
All of our activity staff are DBS cleared and trained to National Governing Body (NGB) standards for activities where an NGB is applicable, as well as undergoing comprehensive in-house training.
Our kitchen staff hold relevant qualifications and undergo our in-house kitchen familiarisation training. HACCP and COSHH regulations regarding food hygiene, handling, storage, preparation and service are adhered to.
All of our Activity Equipment is checked prior to each use and more thoroughly every week, to ensure it conforms to all required safety standards. Risk assessments are conducted regularly on all aspects of the centre’s operations and are available from Useful Information
First Aid
The first aid room will be made available to your appointed first aider upon arrival.
Should any member of your party need the services of a doctor or hospital, this is readily available and Château staff will be on hand to help.
Amongst our staff there are several First Aiders who can assist with any queries you may have. All staff are trained in our established Accident and Incident procedures.
