Château Beaumont is ideally located for a variety of historical excursions.
If you have any National Curriculum requirements with regard to French language or History please let us know and we can work with you to build a trip that targets your desired outcomes.

Fougères
Fougères is the biggest medieval fortress in Europe and in excellent condition, which makes it a fantastic excursion for unleashing a child’s imagination. Your Group Leader will tell the animated tale of the castle’s history, with full involvement from the group.
After a guided tour of the fortress, visitors will have free time to investigate and uncover some of the Château’s secrets for themselves, or to walk up through the medieval streets to the Cathedral to take in the amazing panoramic view of the Castle.
Le Mont Saint-Michel
The magnificent appearance of Le Mont Saint Michel cloaks the carefully guarded secrets and history that lie within. Its walls and cobbled streets ooze atmosphere that belies the religious origins of this mass of rock, considered to be the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’.
The streets are said to have been the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books and films. Our Group Leaders will give a guided tour around the historic and iconic walls. Photo opportunities abound!
Saint Malo
The great walled City by the Sea. A popular historical site, numbering its fair share of famous sailors and pirates. The sea laps against the gigantic walls which protect the ancient city within. Cobbled streets and tall French town houses emit a quaint French atmosphere. Don’t forget to visit the amazing ice cream shop!

Arromanches
About half an hour from Bayeux, this is a pleasant seaside town with long, sandy beaches and a clear view of the famous ‘Mulberry Harbour’. This town provides an interesting introduction to WWII, with the ‘Musée du Débarquement’ and the ’360 Degree Cinema’.
A visit to Arromanches may also be coupled with the short drive to Colleville-sur-Mer, site of Omaha beach and made famous by the film “Saving Private Ryan”.
Bayeux
Bayeux is a beautiful and ancient city, and a unique Normandy experience.
This excursion offers some excellent opportunities for experiencing French history. The cathedral, town, gardens and WWII Cemetery are all worth a visit and of course there is the “must-see”, famous Bayeux Tapestry.
Usually visited on the way to or from the Château, due to its proximity to the Caen ferry-crossing.
